The Ron Day MK Bowl Series – Race 9

It was a really lovely evening for a bike race, it was warm, sunny, with not much wind. It was great to have enough helpers so we could run the race around the larger circuit starting at the green straight from the gun. This is my favourite circuit.

A huge thank you to Dick Selley, Chris Londy and Dave Woods and helpers for working hard setting up and taking down all the additional safety equipment for this circuit. Huge thanks to all the marshals with an extra shoult out to the 4 ladies who came out to support their partner/dad tonight and helped marshal. I really do appreciate you all and could not run these events without you. The racing was exciting to watch with riders trying so hard to get away in both races, at one point all the breaks and bunches for both races were all mixed up along the finishing straight. Thank goodness for MyLaps timing.

The ABCD race saw Gavin Howell and Bobby McGlue jump away with a few laps to go with Michael DArcy chasing hard behind them with the bunch swifty on their tail. Gav won with Bobby taking a chunk out of the tarmac with his pedal on the last corner miraculously staying upright to roll in 2nd, Michael 3rd and the bunch sprint being won by Lee Block. The EFGH race saw some equally competitive racing with a few breakaways but all came back together for a bunch sprint won by James Stewart from Paul Stewart, just ahead of our ‘Prime King’ Dean Sibthorpe . The G cats branched off to have a race of their own, won by Keith Snook. Congratulations to all our winners.

The Ron Day MK Bowl Series – Race 8

A smaller field tonight after the enforced 3 week break due to concerts at the bowl. Not enough helpers to go out of the gates to use the extended circuit sadly. It was great to be back though and it was great to have a small breeze on a lovely night for racing.

The ABCD race saw Gavin Howell and Bobby McGlue make a break away after 35 mins of racing and stay away with the win going to Gav. The bunch sprint was won by Richard Wiggins. The EFGH race stayed together with the win going to Deano Sibthorpe from James Stewart. Congratulations to all our winners.

Huge thank you to Barry Bonnett’s sons for coming along to help tonight to be our marshals. I only have 2 helpers for next week so any further help would be appreciated. Please let me know.
