EARLY NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING

The provisional date for an open meeting of BMCR is Saturday 21st October 2023.  The meeting will be held by video link.

NEW PROCEDURE FOR RACE ENTRIES

Race organisers have the option of giving priority to members who organise or help at BMCR events or undertake regional or national roles, or (where appropriate) based on past performance. This leaves a reduced number of places to be available on a first-come-first-served basis, and an increased likelihood that entrants will join a waiting list when they first apply to enter a race.

The policy of opening entries at 5am has always attracted mixed support.  With an increased probability of being on a waiting list, the opening time for entries is moving to a more accessible time.  Entries will still open 8 weeks before the event, but at 5pm instead of 5am. This change will be effective from Thursday 16th March, so will apply to all events taking place from Thursday 11th May onwards.

NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

At the end of last year Nigel Byrne and Rob Fowler indicated that they would like to step down from the National Executive Committee.  Both made substantial contributions to BMCR whilst on the NEC, Nigel as Chair and Rob leading on the development of the website, and they leave with heartfelt and well-earned thanks.  Both remain committed to BMCR and are continuing (in that most valuable of roles) as race organisers.  Thank you, Nigel and Rob.

Toks Adesanya, Paul Stewart and Alan Vallance have joined the NEC and James Stewart, has been appointed Chair on an interim basis in addition to his role as Treasurer.  The NEC is mindful that the roles of Chair and Treasurer are best separated, and are actively seeking candidates for either role.  Members who are interested are invited to contact a member of the NEC.
